Sweating for St. John of God

On May 17, Joe Flacco, quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens and Evolution Fitness of Cherry Hill, joined forces to raise money for St. John of God Community Services.

St. John of God Community Services, located in Westville Grove, provides service to children and adults with disabilities. On Nov. 6, the organization, founded by five members of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, will celebrate 50 years of hospitality at their Golden Anniversary Gala at Auletto Caterers in Deptford Township.

“One of the reasons Evolution Fitness chose SJOG as the recipient of this charity workout was because one of their current members, Robyn, attended this school and it gave her the ability to keep learning when other schools refused,” the company said in a press release.

The charity event consisted of two workouts, the first open to children ages 7-14. The second workout was for individuals ages 15 and older. Participants were asked to donate $25.

“When Evolution Fitness approached me with the idea of another charity workout, I jumped on board immediately,” said Flacco. “I really enjoyed the first charity workout that we did two years ago for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and I’m happy to support a local organization this time around.”

“SJOG is such a great organization and we’re proud to support their program that has helped Robyn whom I’ve trained personally for over 10 years,” said Brian Kane, co-owner, Evolution Fitness. “It’s bittersweet when you actually know the people you are directly helping and it brings on an even deeper meaning.”
