Final Pre Chapter Meeting of Extended General Definitory

On April 26, the commemoration of Our Lady of Good Counsel, the Extended General Definitory, which had met regularly twice a year throughout the Sexennium, was convened for its final meeting at the General Curia. It was attended by the Superior General, Bro. Donatus Forkan, the General Councillors, the Secretary-General, the Secretary of the Prior General, and the six Co-workers making up the Extended General Definitory.

The meeting took stock of the work performed during the Sexennium. All agreed that it had been a very positive and gratifying experience, which had provided a wide-ranging vision of the state of the Order throughout the world. During that period many issues had been addressed, above all with regard to information, reflection and proposals. It had also sent out a sign to the whole Order to encourage the incorporation of our Co-workers in posts of responsibility in the Order at every level. Looking toward the future, there was a need to make further progress, seeking to set more practical/operational targets while certainly bearing in mind the need to organise the the General Curia with the support and commitment of our Co-workers to undertake the tasks of animation and governance of the Order.

Other matters discussed at the meeting were the presentation and appraisal of the Instrumentum Laboris for the forthcoming General Chapter, and ideas to be used for proposing a possible reorganisation of the General Curia.

Everyone thanked the Superior General for his invitation to become members of the Extended General Definitory, stressing the fact that it had been a wonderful experience, as individuals and as a group. Brother Donatus Forkan also thanked everyone for attending, and for their commitment and loyalty in attending the meetings throughout the Sexennium. Lastly, he gave each of our Co-workers a memento in the form of a pomegranate, and the day ended with a fraternal dinner in a restaurant in Rome's Trastevere district.
