Marianne O’Connor osu
Director General
August 2007 - December 2012

It is with regret that CORI bids farewell to Marianne O’Connor, who having given outstanding service and leadership for five and a half years, took her leave from the position of Director General on 21 December.

Marianne guided CORI through an era of unprecedented challenges for Irish religious. Her utter dedication, energy and tenacity, and her capacity to generate hope and courage within a difficult and painful period, facilitated focused and effective engagement with demanding and sensitive situations.

Marianne feels privileged to have served the 140 congregations over five eventful years. She has become acutely aware of the massive scale and variety of the contribution of religious to the life of the people of Ireland: “I was honoured to have worked with and for religious who were hugely motivated by the values of the Gospel.” So it is with mixed feelings that she departs: “I enjoyed my time as DG but there comes a time for moving on to new and more relaxing pastures”. Before becoming DG at CORI, Marianne, a native of Sligo, served as Congregation Leader of the Ursulines, 2001 to 2006.
