Ember Faith Leadership Programme

On Monday May 13th, the Archdiocese of Dublin Education Secretariat will begin a pilot of the new Ember Programme which has been developed in partnership with the interdenominational Christian charity Scripture Union*. The Ember Programme is a new faith leadership programme for students at senior level in secondary schools. The students are trained to become mentors for incoming first year students and to be faith leaders in their schools. The vision for the programme, inspired by the Christian message of love and service to others, is to create a group of leaders within schools who will be an example of faith in action, striving to make a difference in the lives of those around them.

The pilot will take place over three days at Ovoca Manor, Scripture Union’s Retreat and Adventure Centre in Co Wicklow. At the close of the programme on Wednesday May 15th Bishop Eamonn Walsh will visit to commission the new Ember teams.

The residential programme includes a variety of seminars and outdoor activities with the objective of developing teamwork and leadership skills, growing the participants’ personal faith and a sense of fostering community. Outdoor activities including crate climbing, low ropes course, ‘Jacob’s ladder’ climbing challenge and team-building games are run by Ovoca Manor’s qualified instructors, all experienced in providing adventure retreat programmes and faith-based outdoor activity sessions.

You would be welcome to join us at any point during the programme. The schedule of activities is as follows:

Mon May 13th 1pm – 3.30pm Team-building activities: Communication and listening
