Group Works to Raise Profile of Religious Brothers

Brother Paul Bednarczyk, CSC, participated in the second meeting of the Religious Brothers Think Tank of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM), this time hosted by the Conventual Franciscan Friars in Ellicott City, MD. The purpose of this group is to heighten awareness of brothers and value for their way of life. Several recommendations were made by the 18-member group for further action to be reviewed by the CMSM board. NRVC applauds CMSM for its vision, proactive response, and continued support of the significant work of this group.

The following is the five point action plan to promote the Religious Brother's vocation:

-Advocacy for a year for "Consecrated Life" in the universal Church

- A letter to major superiors of communities of Brothers and mixed communites of Priests and Brothers expressing appreciation for their support in continuing to value the vocaton of the Religious Brother and urging special emphasis on Brothers' vocation in initial formation.

-A focused media promotion and strengthening of connections with Catholic publications.

- A pilot one day symposium scheduled for May 2014

- A subsequent national symposium
