St John of God Centre Schärding, Austria, Evacuated

As a result of the incessant rain which has been affecting the whole of the Central European region in the past few days, a number of the largest rivers in the area have burst their banks, including the Rhine, the Danube, the Moldava and the Inn, placing people and property in serious jeopardy.

On June 3, 2013, when the Inn burst its banks, our hospital at Schärding in Austria had to be completely evacuated. We have been told by the Provincial, Brother Ulrich Fischer, that the guests in the Centre, and the Co-workers, were all taken to safety. In many cases the homes of the Co-workers of the Centre  have also been seriously damaged.
