Vocations Fair for World Youth Day

Want to discover your vocation, the calling God has for you? The Vocation Fairs could be the perfect place for you to encounter the will of God. Almost 150 new communities and religious congregations are expected to be present at the stands at Quinta da Boa Vista. Registration for communities and congregations is still ongoing.

The event will take place during World Youth Day (WYD) Rio2013, from July 23 until the 26, from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. “The goal of the Fair is to help all who attend to ask themselves what God expects of them,” Father Leonardo Lopes, member of the Pastoral Preparation Sector and Head of the Vocations Fair, emphasized.

All of the pilgrims can participate in the Fair, according to Father Leonardo. Religious orders for both men and women, diverse movements, and new communities will all be present.

The first criteria for the Fair is that the communities work internationally. Further, they should have representatives who speak at least one or two languages other than Portuguese. Printed materials must also be available in other languages.

For everyone

The vocations stands are not the only attraction at the Fair. The pilgrim could spend an entire day at the location. There will also be places for catechesis, a food court and various restaurants, and even tents for DJs to create a festive atmosphere and finally Evangelization 180º, with extreme sports like climbing and zip-lining.

Quinta da Boa Vista will also have half of the confessionals specifically designed for WYD, along with a tent of 600 square meters for adoring the Most Holy Sacrament. Pope Francis will hear the confessions of five young people at this location on Friday, July 26.

There is also a schedule for activities in the tents every half hour, like testimonies, speeches, and musical performances. The location is easily accessed by train, metro, and bus.
